Somerton Church Bell Ringing
We have been busy ringing across the valley and beyond on Thursday evenings. Our team is comprised of ringers across the Cherwell Valley Benefice with support from the villages of Fritwell, North Aston, Steeple Aston, Chesterton, and Launton.

Bell Ringing
Why Join Somerton’s Bell Ringers?
- When it goes well, it sounds lovely!
- Mix of physical and cerebral exercise,
- Keeping the tradition running,
- Opportunity to explore our historic church buildings.
Belling ringing at Somerton has been a activity since the 17c, with the earliest bell date 1635. Currently we ring at either Somerton & North Aston, the last Thursday of the month, at Lower Heyford. We practise evenings every Thursday:
- 7:00 pm for people learning to ring.
- 7:30 pm for those more accomplished in the art.
Come and watch the bell ringing
You are most welcome to come and join or watch us practising.
We plan to ring in May to celebrate the King’s coronation, though we do need more bell ringers to achieve this at all the churches in our benefice. Do come along and join us!
