Helping to prevent HGV’s travelling through Somerton
Great News
As of 2nd Feb 2025, we have been able to get Google to correct their maps to stop incorrecty directing traffic through Somerton and Aston View to get to Heyford Park.
Waze is also routing traffic correctly.
But please keep reporting HGV’s trying to use Aston View to access Heyford Park, take a photo of the number plate, or make a note, and let the Parish Council know by emailing: [email protected] if it is safe for you to do so.
We engage with Dorchester Homes and we pass this information onto them, so that they can work with the businesses at Heyford Park, with whom they have regular meetings, to prevent this from happening.

We are delighted that the Somerton Parish Council was able to fund an additional speed indicator.
It has been installed on Water Street on the bend before the railway bridge on the right hand side of the road.
It warns traffic driving out of the village towards North Aston that there is a blind bend coming up and of their speed. It works extremley well.
A very big thankyou to Somerton resident David Spencer who was instrumental in making this happen.
